When you work in the field of events, you quickly learn that the teamwork is the key to success. We must bet on everyone's experience and keep egos at bay since each action will have an impact on how things will turn out. A simple doubt, a decision or even a fraction of a second can make the difference between the success or failure of a project.
That being said, even when you have the best team in the world, an unforeseen event can mix things up without you being able to predict it. The expression « the days follow each other, but are not alike» could not have applied better in mid-March of this year. Indeed, at the beginning of the week, we were in the middle of planning for the summer season: inventory management, planning with customers, order follow-up, everything is normal for this period. We were far from suspecting that as of March 13, a large portion of the employees would be sent home, without really knowing when they would have the chance to return since the events would all be canceled one after the other. The industry we operate in was the first to be affected and will likely be the last to be reactivated since it is based on coming together.
It is therefore withAGORA OPUS3 , MCI and YULISM at his side as theABP Group founded the Business Events Industry Group, in order to be heard by the government and to illustrate the situation in which we find ourselves.e.
A simple look at social media reveals that everyone is trying to get their piece of the pie. Several petitions, alliances and others have emerged to denounce the situation of each. We quickly realized that if we did not move, we could only watch the wave pass and live with the consequences of all this. This attitude does not at all reflect the vision of our company, and since we had time and resources at our disposal, we rolled up our sleeves and went for it.
With the committee mentioned above, we want to attack the situation head-on by mainly targeting the business events industry . We chose this sector because it is the one that has the most economic impact and brings the most visibility to our regions. We had to choose only one sector because by attacking everything at the same time, we risked diluting the message.
By conducting a survey of our network, we managed to bring together more than 110 members who have joined us to get our message heard by people with the influence to make a difference.
What is inspiring in all of this is to see all these people rally to their competitors in order to join forces and face the storm together. Rivalries no longer count, we must be united. At this point, we are no longer talking about the survival of the companies we represent, but about the survival of the industry and that is in joining forces that we will manage to make a difference!
